Discovery Day: The Art Heist

Grades: 2–5
Date: November 21, 2026
Time: 12:00–2:30 PM
Location: Amherst Public Library Community Room

A museum masterpiece has disappeared... and we need a team of young inventors to help solve the case!

At our next InventQuest Discovery Day, students will step into the role of investigators, engineers, and inventors as they work to uncover the mystery behind a fictional museum heist. Students will examine evidence, study fingerprints, listen to witness accounts, design a laser security system, and build inventions to help protect the museum.

Throughout the experience, students will use observation, problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and the engineering design process to investigate clues, test their ideas, and ultimately recover the missing artwork.

The Art Heist combines the excitement of a mystery adventure with meaningful, hands-on STEM learning, giving students the opportunity to learn by creating, collaborating, testing, and redesigning.

No previous STEM experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity and get ready to investigate!
